Old photos of Singkawang city. The city been dubeed as a city of "Thousand Temples" due to many of shrines and temples. Chinese culture has enriched the city for as long as its standing. Most of tourism attracted to visit Singkawang is due to this factor. The main attraction is around Chinese new Year and Cap Go Meh or 15th day. There are usually street festival like dragon dance or lion dance.
Here photos from around 1960s where a "Dragon" still permitted by Indonesian government. The "Dragon" banned after 1960s but revived again in 1998.
